Once Upon a Time

There were Two Brothers — one an attorney and the other not that stupid

Dear Brother:

The notion of Russian “collusion” being key to toppling President Trump becomes further implanted in the minds of most energized progressive (or, regressive) activists, as evidenced this time around by a troupe of protesters who showed up to the Department of Justice headquarters brandishing trademarked “Resist” placards, chanting “Lock Him Up,” and (as usual) hyperventilating about Putin. Trump/Putin theories are increasingly the top concern that plugged-in “Resistance” types bring up at the highly-charged town hall meetings that have received so much attention of late.

Pointing out these glaring flaws in the latest anti-Russia frenzy is immediately construed by cynics as “defending Trump” or “defending Sessions” when it most assuredly is not. It’s a defense of not getting enraptured by irrational hysterics to further short-term political aims — evidence of your political ineptitude.

People who have spent the past 3 months frothing at the mouth gradually come to realize that their initial furor was probably overblown, and that a more sober look at the actual facts at hand reveal that the anti-Trump chorus probably got ahead of itself…again.

Once More (not alone upon this moment in the space/time continuum) Progressives who sought to capitalize on the anti-Trump uproar end up looking extremely foolish. Again . . . .

Real Bread and Real Beer

The “down-side” of Social Media

Reality’s Sad Shift to the Left

Social constructs in themselves edge into personal liberties, but the lingering effect of being able to “block” an undesirable advertisement or, more commonly, literally “silencing” a person (whom you have never met in person) and throwing them in the trash can has become a negative influence on our grasp of reality.

Even worse is the self-empowerment which this “medium” gives all of us — including me.

We can take a mental “swipe” at somebody without fear of retribution.

This has produced the “Social Justice Warrior” attitude and has let it morph into a justified classification of civility or “normal behavior.” Rosa Parks may have held onto her seat but she did not flaunt it nor did she attempt to convince the masses around her that she was justified in her defiance. She simply sat and allowed both the driver and the observers (in themselves SJW’s) to arrive at their own conclusions. The unjust laws in Montgomery, Alabama were exposed.

Zeitgeist. There was no internet when that bus driver hailed the authorities. There was no opportunity for sympathizers to collect and show solidarity from the comfort of their bedroom wearing bunny slippers and sipping on an unhealthy beverage and passing gas in reckless abandon.

The concept of “victim mentality” was once again the brilliant idea of “social justice” made by The International Review of the Red Cross and was emblazoned by The University of Cambridge Press in 2009. Not really an original concept, by the way.

The follow-up to Future Shock

However, the desire of sympathy is crucial in that the mere experience of a harmful event is not enough for the emergence of the sense of being a victim. In order to have this sense there is the need to perceive the harm as undeserved, unjust and immoral, an act that could not be prevented by the victim. The need to obtain empathy can then emerge.

Back to Reality. Displaced cultures forced to flee bombing raids does not equate to today’s version of SJW in a limp protest at Trump Tower or even a Black Lives Matter march in Ferguson.

Liberals: Get a Life.

If you need a list of things that will improve your state of mind or expand your comfort zone or even create a broader safe-space it won’t take too much energy to make one. Or do you need me to make it for you? Now that would be unjustified.

Two of my all-time favorite actors are in this picture. Guess which ones? Easy. Christopher Lloyd and Jack Nicholson.

Now and Forever Gone

In a near random universe there are still certain combinations
Picked out from all other possible ones
Which, when given some time and the just-right circumstances
Not too far from the earth or too close to the sun
They will dance and they’ll spin in the embrace of the trade winds
Playing havoc with the hearts and the upturned faces down below
Until the laws of curved spacetime, susponed without warning
Kick back in with a vengeance for the last act of my show

ORIGINAL POST from PurposeOnThePrairie

In less than 24 hours since Donald Trump has been named the President-elect of the greatest nation on this earth, it’s become apparent he’s being given far more credit than he’s due.  There’s anguished cries of, ‘How will my children grow up knowing not to discriminate?’ or, ‘How can I look my daughter in the eye and tell her she has purpose?’  Really?  Really, America?  You have given Donald Trump, a mere mortal man, far more credit than he deserves, especially considering the man hasn’t even taken office yet.  Trump does not have the power to mold our families, that is our flat-out our responsibility.

Your children will learn to love or hate, be respectful or disrespectful, wise or foolish, not by the character of the family in the White House, but by the family in their house.  May I submit to you that your sons and daughters will be far, far more influenced by their teachers, coaches, 4-H, FFA, Scouts or church group leaders than they will a man on TV.  I don’t feel my character was molded by the Bush, Clinton, or Obama families, but I did learn perseverance from my Dad, work ethic from my Mom, and to do my best (and then redo it) from my sister.  My college bible study leaders modeled to me how to seek God and my husband leads me in prayer.

Should those in the public spotlight conduct themselves in a honorable fashion with utmost integrity?  Absolutely.  However, it is not the responsibility of Miss America, the NFL, or the President, to set the example of moral conduct.  It is not the government’s responsibility to ensure American children have a good example.  It is our responsibility, as American citizens, to ensure that we lead our youth in showing what is right and good and honorable and true.  One good, God-fearing, America respecting football coach can do far more to shape the hearts and minds of teenage boys than Colin Kapernick.  If we want to make a difference, let’s stop worrying about Trump’s moral example and take an active role in our classrooms, churches, youth groups, sports team, 4-H and FFA.

Secondly, it is only a lie that one man in Washington can determine another person’s value or worth.  If you’re living and breathing, you have a purpose.  Case closed.  God fearfully and wonderfully made each one of us, and then continues to work in us for His good pleasure!  If I ever, ever seek another man or woman’s approval or affirmation to find purpose in my life, I will be sorely disappointed.  It does not matter if that individual is a supervisor, friend, husband, or the President himself, no one can provide me with purpose outside of the Lord.

Friends and fellow Americans, “Your success as a family… our success as a nation… depends not on what happens inside the White House, but on what happens inside your house.”  I pray these wise words of Barbara Bush should resonate with us, our nation has always and will always depend on the moral fiber of our families, nothing more, nothing less.  God bless, America, and America, bless God!
